Glossopsitta

The monotypic Glossopsitta (Rothschild & Hartert, 1896) genus includes only the Musk Lorikeet. Previously the Glossopsitta genus also included the Little Lorikeet and Purple-crowned Lorikeet but these have been moved to the Parvipsitta genus.

The Musk Lorikeet is endemic to Australia. It is about 22 cm long and is mainly green with blue crown and a red band extending from the forehead to the ear coverts.
