The Touit genus includes eight species and two subspecies of small Neotropical parrots. They are found in Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Panama and French Guiana.

Most species are native to moist lowland forests in tropical or subtropic regions but other species prefer the higher altitudes of mountain forests in the Andes.
