The genus Alipiopsitta is monotypic and comprises only a single specie: Yellow-faced Parrot.
It is native to South America in an area from inner Brazil to northern Paraguay and eastern Bolivia.
This species was previously categorized as Amazona xanthops but later research has shown that it actually should be characterized as its own genus and was renamed to Alipiopsitta xanthops.
